it's sunday right now and i'm in an internet cafe in el centro de
cuernavaca (more or less, downtown). i actually got to
go to mass in english this morning which was a bit of
relief. every sunday they have an english mass at the
chapel which is part of the big cathedral here.
anyways, we just got finished wandering around the
market and stopped to email people before we head back
for lunch. viet, one of the seminarians who is living
in our house is taking us to lunch. oh yeah, did i
mention that all the guys here are seminarians. it´s
hysterical. they´ve been really nice and have showed
us around quite a bit. yesterday, viet took six of us
girls to mexico city to see the big pyramids there.
emily and i are always laughing because he´s always
ready to go before we are and he has to wait around
for us to catch up.
hmmm, what else to say...oh yeah, future warning to those
who ever end up in mexico city and ride the metro. be
prepared for major invasions of your personal space
boundary. getting in and out of the cars, you are almost
guaranteed to get felt up from behind so they can see if
you have money in your back pockets.
yesterday was actually really tiring and i slept like a log
last night. when you're tired it's even harder to understand
all the spanish. i find that this settling in period is kind
of an up and down time for me. in the morning, i am
raring to go and excited to see everything but at
night i just want to cry because i'm so tired and i
just want to be able to speak english to my host
family. plus, i am covered in mosquito bites (bug
spray does not seem to work down here).
It seems like it's just one of those yucky travel moments
for the time being.
